ARIZONA
Our main reason to visit Arizona was to see The Grand Canyon with surroundings. So after crossing the Hoover dam we went east towards The Grand Canyon visitors center, we had not made any reservations for hotel or campgrounds but manage to get a camping spot to put our tent up just outside the entrance to the national park. We would recommend to make reservations in advance for major attractions like this when traveling in high season, and get a National park pass if you plan to visit more than 2 parks. We did not make a trek down into the canyon because it was very hot so we drove around the edge of the canyon looking for viewpoints. After doing that for a day we were quite happy to drive further up north towards Page. Just before Page is the Horse Shoe bend, a very nice place for pictures. Page is very popular because of nearby attractions so it can be hard to find a motel or campsite here as well.
