LONDON SIGHTS
Since we’ve been a lot to London before we didn’t feel the urge to run around to all the classical top sight like we usually do when visiting a new city. Still we managed to squeeze in quite a lot of sightseeing. Some of the nicest things during our visit was walking the famous Millennium bridge, crossing river Thames to get to Tate Modern. Tate is a great museum and often have really interesting contemporary art exhibitions, it’s worth checking out what's on during your stay. To get a break from the buzzing city life it’s always nice to visit parks, we went to Hyde park and had a long walk around the canal. A walk in Hyde Park can be combined with a visit to the Natural History Museum in South Kensington, to beat the crowd we recommend you to get there early. We came five minutes before opening time and there was already a quite long line. By the time we got out the line was ten times as big.
Portobello Road is a street in Notting Hill with cute, colorful houses. The street is home to the iconic Portobello Road Market with a mix of street food, fruit and veg, antiques, and secondhand. Saturdays is the busiest day, we went on a Friday and still had a nice experience. We also went to the Tower of London. But decided not to get in when we saw the long line of visitors, instead we had a nice walk around the castle. Tower of London is located on the north bank of the River Thames in central London and from here you’ll also get a nice view on the London Bridge.
Piccadilly Circus, famous for its neon lights and fountain, is a true circus of tourists, Londoners and busy traffic. Whether you’re planning to see it or not, you’ll probably end up here anyway since it’s a grand meeting point and really in the heart of London. Regent street is one of the streets that runs through the Piccadilly. And finally, of course a visit to London wouldn’t be complete without seeing Big Ben and the Palace of Westminster. We had a nice evening look at the grand building.
