NAMCHE BAZAAR
This was an acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar. Namche is the Sherpa peoples largest city where you can get souvenirs, climbing gear, supplies, clothes and more. We started the day with steep steps up to a viewpoint at 3820m, it took about two hours to get there. From here we had a spectacular view of Kusum Kanguru, Ama Dablam, Lhotse and Mt Everest. Finally some serious mountains!
After the view we visited the local Everest Sherpa Museum. Here we got to see and typical old home of Sherpas and learn a little about their way of life. The museum also held a room with photos of all Sherpas being on the top of Mt Everest, one of our guides, Namgya Sherpa was among the local heroes and we felt utterly proud for him. We had lunch at our “Namche Guest House”, consisting of some fried potatoes, Tibetan bread and canned tuna, the only meat we had during the trip. We got about 4 hours of free time during the afternoon which we spent shopping at the bazaar and getting the last supplies for the rest of the trip.
