DOLE ̶ MACHHERMO
We woke up early by our Japanese neighbors, being on a different time schedule than us. The sky was blue and outside our window we could see Cho-Oyo glitter in the morning light. We started the day by a short and steep hill, eventually the landscape evened out and went gently uphill. The scenery reminded us of Scotland, with its green slopes and spread out rocks. But the snowy peaks in the horizon made the whole difference. Below us we could see the milky Dudh Koshi, we passed the tree line and saw a lot of Yak shit laying out to dry in the sun. The poop is being rounded and flattened by hand, and when dried used as fuel for the fireplace. Going up to Machhermo is quite a short day and we arrived to our lodge before lunch, situated at 4470m. In the afternoon we took yet another acclimatization tour. It was supposed to take less than an hour but lasted for nearly two. The view reminded us of the Swedish north, it was monochrome and barren, windy and cold. It felt nice to get into the warmth of the lodges’ cozy restaurant once we got back down and we were served yet another energizing meal for dinner. The classic combination of pasta and fries.
