OSAKA
We had two nights in Osaka and since we stayed in Namba most of our time was spent there. Namba is the entertainment district of Osaka with many bars, restaurants, nightclubs, arcades, shops and department stores. The district is located around the Dōtonbori canal with some very spectacular neon lights. Don’t miss an evening stroll here! It’s just as much fun to watch people take pictures and selfies as it is to look at the actual neon lights. Osaka is one of the most famous food cities in Japan and has it’s own proud food culture. We tried Okonomiyaki, which originates from Osaka. It’s sort of an omelet or pancake with cabbage, meat or seafood filling, served with mayo and a thick sweet sauce similar to Worcestershire sauce. The best thing about having Okonomiyaki is seeing it being made right before you. We even got one decorated with Hello Kitty. Only in Japan!
Himeji castle and Nara are the two most popular day tours from Osaka, we only had time for one and chose Himeji.
