SHINJUKU
Shinjuku is the largest area in Tokyo, located around the busiest railway station in the world, the Shinjuku station. The station has around 200 exits which can get a bit overwhelming and quite confusing when trying to enter and exit. To the west side of the station you’ll find Tokyo’s administration center with the Metropolitan government building in the heart of it. The building has two towers and the admission is free to the two observation decks on the 45th floor. A really great spot for a staggering view of Tokyo!
East of the station lies the shopping and restaurants districts with Tokyo’s prettiest neon lights. Make sure not to miss Golden Gai, a small area with around 200 tiny bars which only fit 4–10 guests each.
South-east of the station is the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, a beautiful traditional Japanese garden with modern skyscrapers as a backdrop.
