TIGNES, SIX DAYS OF SUN
Val d’Isére and Tignes share the same ski area: Espace Killy. Having been to Val d’Isére before realizing we were always skiing the Tignes area we thought we might as well stay there instead, so we went for Tignes, Val Claret, this is a small town built for alpine sports. Val Claret is located at 2300m and this is as high as you can get by road in this ski system and you have ski lifts going in all directions from Val Claret, it will not get more convenient than this. And the small town has a nice center with some good restaurants.
Espace Killy is in our opinion one of the best skiing areas in the Alps, the area is huge and offers all kinds of skiing and you can move from one end to the other pretty fast, there are not much queues in the lifts and because of its high altitude there are lots of snow! PRACTICAL
When to go: For skiing - when there is snow, usually from Dec-Mar, we went in February.
Getting there: By car, train or air, airports: Geneva, Chambery or Grenoble.
Money: Euros.
Other: If you are using rental equipment it is usually cheaper to book this from home.
