CENOTE CALAVERA Cenote Calavera (Skull Cave) also known as Temple of Doom is another easy cenote dive that we did at our first day of diving. Calavera is a hole in the ground of the jungle with a small underwater mountain just beneath the hole. All around the mountain there are caverns and caves, your guide will take you around these for about 60 minutes. A very beautiful and relaxed dive. There is fresh water on top of salt water in the cavern, and where the different types of water meet you can see what looks like a thin oily layer. To get into the cenote you first have to make a three meter (10 foot) jump into the water, and after the dive climb a ladder to get back up.
