DIVING COZUMEL Scuba diving is the main reason for us to visit Cozumel, the island is located along the great Mesoamerican reef, second largest in the world. The water is very clear and you can expect to see a lot of Turtles, Nurse sharks, Sting rays, Eagle rays and more. A typical dive trip gets you two different boat dives, one of them around great coral formations and swim troughs, the other drifting along sand and coral with a lot of wildlife. As expected we enjoyed the diving here but there is cause for concern, the number of divers is rapidly increasing, the dive boats are usually crowded and the dive guides take on too large groups in the water. Ask the dive operator how large their groups are before going diving.
