ERIYADU - DIVING We booked a 6 days dive package and decided to split the days equally between shore dives at our house reef, and boat trips around the North Male Atoll. The Eriyadu house reef offers some pretty good dives and the corals are not as damaged when you get deeper due to the colder water. We really like this kind of shore diving on our own without guide, it is easy and relaxed diving at your own pace. Except from the usual reef fish, we saw Turtles, Moray Eels, Trevallies, Nurse Sharks and a few Giant Stingrays (at 30m). For the boat dives we went 30–60 minutes away from the island to make some beautiful nature dives with nice coral reefs (Ashdoo Canyon), caves and overhangs (Trix Caves). We also made two dives looking for sharks in the current (Woshimas Thila and Finger Point) which Maldives is famous for, and found a few reef sharks. We were not as impressed with the macro dive that we did (Bat Reef), looking for small stuff like crabs, nudies and flatworms on a wall. Although it’s always wonderful to get a shrimp manicure. Maldivian diving is usually pretty good and we enjoyed it very much.
