INDONESIA X 3 AND MORE We went to Indonesia for scuba diving, we had heard great things about north Sulawesi and Pulau Weh. Manado is the gateway to north Sulawesi and flights there goes from Singapore or Jakarta. We started our trip with a few days in Singapore before going to Manado. From Manado there are boats to Bunaken island, usually arranged by the resort. After a few days on Bunaken we went to Sahaung Island, just south of Bangka island. Getting from Manado to Pulau Weh was a little tricky, flight to Singapore, bus to Kuala Lumpur, flight to Banda Aceh and boat to Pulau Weh. On our way back we stopped at Tenggol in Malaysia. PRACTICAL When to go: All year should be OK, Jul-Oct gets less rain, we went in July. Getting there: There are flights to Mandao from Singapore or Jakarta. You can get to Pulau Weh via a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Banda Aceh. Money: Indonesian IDR, USD usually works, some European resorts prefer Euros. In Malaysia you need Ringgits (RM). Other: Check if visa is needed for your country, in Pulau Weh malaria prophylaxis may be useful.
