MALDIVES Known for paradise islands with vast white sandy beaches with palm trees and blue water, very popular for honeymooners and similar. This is all true, but the Maldives also offers a paradise below the surface with some of the best snorkeling and diving we have seen so far. We wanted to get the most out of Maldives in 2 weeks and went on a liveaboard diving trip for one week and stayed on one of those paradise islands for the second week. PRACTICAL
When to go: Dec-Apr, Dec-Feb is high season, we went in late March.
Getting there: Take an international flight to Malé, resorts arrange transport from there.
Money: USD works fine, local currency can be useful in Malé.
Other: Clothes for women needs to be according to Islamic customs when visiting Malé and some local islands. Don´t try to bring liquor from abroad, they are scanning for this at the airport.
