PANGBOCHE ̶ NAMCHE
After a good night's sleep at lower altitude we felt rested and ready to start our trek back to Namche. There were horses outside our doorstep and a cow by our outdoor zink. During our breakfast we had a nice view of the Lhotse south face. The trek started pretty easy going down into a forest crossing the Imja Kola river with a great view of the Ama Dablam. We met a lot of Yaks during the day, freely strolling around the mountain sides. After the river the trail went up again and took us to the Tengboche monastery at 3900m, this is the largest gompa in the Khumbu region. From here we had great views of Lhotse and Ama Dablam. The trail continued steep downwards towards the Dude Koshi river which we had to cross at about 3100m only to gain the altitude again just after the crossing. This is where our Nepal circuit was closed as we came back to the trail we left after Namche 9 days ago. After lunch at the Ama Dablam view restaurant we continued to Namche and the trail got easier again. It felt good to be back in Namche at 3400m and we went to the Everest bakery for a piece of delicious apple pie.
