PHORTSE TENGA ̶ DOLE The trek to Dole from Phortse Tenga was not very long, but since it went constantly uphill it took quite some time to get there anyway. The view of Kangtega, 6782m, behind us was breathtaking. We arrived to Dole for lunch and then went on an acclimatization tour for a few hundred meters in the afternoon. We ended up in the clouds and stayed there breathing the thin air for half an hour before returning back down. The motto is: climb high, sleep low. Dole is at 4040m. The evening was as always spent in the restaurant since it’s usually the only warm room in the lodge, heated by a fireplace filled with dried yak shit.
