PONTA DELGADA Ponta Delgada is the capital of Sao Miguel and Azores, it’s located on the south coast and is a good place to stay when exploring the western part of the island. The city center is pretty small with a few pedestrian streets, local shopping, restaurants and bars. Some of the restaurants are very cozy and invites you to have a meal in the street. Walking around the city center you’ll see a lot of abandoned houses, sometimes with trees and other vegetation growing inside of them, a quite unusual sight for an European city. In the summer time lots of cultural activities such as concerts and festivals take place in the streets of Ponta Delgada. At the waterfront there’s a marina with a lots of restaurants, this area is more touristy than the city center.
