SAO MIGUEL EAST The eastern crater area lies around the city of Furnas and Lagoa das Furnas. There’s a mountain range east of Furnas and the coastline in this part of the island is very dramatic with scenic roads. Driving around Sao Miguel by car is the best way to explore its nature wonders and beauty.
