SIMILAN ISLANDS Similan Islands are 9 small Islands 90 km of the west coast of Thailand and Khao Lak. There are no proper resorts on the Islands so spending time out there means you will have to be on a boat. There are many liveaboard dive boats going from Khao Lak and Phuket in all different price ranges. 3-5 days trips are the most common and on most trip you will get to spend some time on some of the islands, there are some nice beaches and rock formations. The scuba diving is excellent with good visibility, great rock formations and good corals, all that you could ask for. Trips often go north from the Similans to visit Koh Bon and Koh Tachai for mantas and other big stuff
